We know that it can be sometimes difficult to find your laptop's model number, or even its brand. If you're not sure what your laptop's model number is, don't try to order its battery just yet. It's more of a hassle to order the wrong battery than to follow these guidelines to uncovering your laptops information.For starters, your owner's manual should have the brand and model number on the front cover. If you don't have your owner's manual then almost every laptop has a manufacturer's label on the bottom of the computer. This label should have the brand and model number on it.
Most laptop batteries from major manufacturers use standardized part numbers. Here are sample part numbers from the major brands:
COMPAQ: 360482-001, 361909-001
SONY: VGP-BPS2C
Dell: 310-6321
IBM: FRU 92P1133, FRU 42T4619
Toshiba: PA3534U-1BRS, PA3285U-3BRS
Apple: A1185
For Windows 98 - Vista Only
If all else fails, turn on your computer and follow these instructions:
1. Go to your desktop.
2. Click 'Start' on the bottom left of the screen.
3. Mouse over 'Programs' > 'Accessories' > 'System Tools'
4. Click on 'System Information'.
5. Your computer's manufacturer, model, etc. will be listed on the following page.
